Rurouni Kenshin
On the 19th, it was announced that a plan to animate a new TV cartoon of the popular manga “Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkyaku Romantan” was underway. The animation is produced by Liden Film, which is involved in the Tokyo Revengers, and released by Teaser PV. The film has been adapted into an animated series five times so far (an animated TV broadcast, a theatrical version, and three OVAs).
The series, which was serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump from 1994 to 1999, has been a popular work with more than 72 million copies in the series. The story depicts the heroine HIMURA Kenshin, who is feared at the end of the Edo period as ‘Hitokiri Battosai’ (Hitokiri-Battosai), as he and his comrades save people with a Sakabatou (double-edged sword), on which he cannot kill people, with a pledge of ‘Never killing someone’ after the Meiji Restoration.
Although it was completed in 1999, the sequel “Hokkaido” has been serialized at “Jump Square” since 17. The first animated TV series was released in 1996, the theatrical version was released in 1997, three OVAs were released after 1999, and live-action movies were released (2012, 22014, and 2021) starring actor Ken SATO. It has been loved as a golden tower work of action period dramas.
